Steps to teach your dog to ring a bell

Step 1 – Touch Command.

• Use the command “touch” pointing to the bell a little bit far away from her nose. Most Dogs will move closer and smell the bell.

• Immediately after she uses her nose to hit/touch the bell say the ” yes!” And give her a treat just after she uses her nose to touch the bell which is a reward for her good works.

Repeat this 7-10 times and make sure she gets used to the step by touching the bell when you say touch. The point here is to teach him to touch/ring the bell.

• Increase the distance of the bell every time your dog touches the bell when you command “touch” them. Repeat this 10-15 times daily.

• Take your dog closer to the bell hanging on its knob or hook, take your dog’s hand closer to it and say “touch” placing it closer to your dog as the string will allow you to.

• As soon as the dog touches the bell say yes! And immediately give her a treat.

• Repeat this over and over again till your dog Touches the bell when you say “touch” some dogs will not take time to master touching the bell since they have already get used to the act of touching the Bell.

Step 2 -Ringing Potty Bell to Go Outside
